Build 1.9 is out. It brings ten landships: walking and rolling bases that carry your people, your stores and your work across the country.
Ten classes, four sizes
They climb a ladder by size. The Hearthrunner and Ashwalker are small two-legged walkers raised on a Walker Frame beside a pitched camp, with room for four. The Muleback, Whitefang, Havenback and Rover are medium ships built at a Landship Yard in a settlement. The Titan Walker, Harvester and Ashfall Flagship are large, with up to twenty aboard. At the top stands the Citadel Pilgrim: a colossal six-legged walking settlement that needs a Grand Yard.
Built in five stages
Every ship is built on the slipway in five stages (keel, legs, hull, engine and bridge, rigging and launch). You deliver the materials for each stage, and settlers working at the yard speed the labour. You can watch her grow at every stage.
Trees, charcoal, and a long walk
Fuel comes from the forest: trees to wood, wood to charcoal. The engine burns charcoal as she walks, and lamps, kitchens and kilns burn it at rest. With no fuel she settles onto her haunches.
Forty-two modules
Every slot is a framed build pad on one of the ship's levels. There are 42 modules, each at tiers I to III: turrets and harpoons, drills and cranes, a smelter and a charcoal kiln, kitchens, crew quarters and greenhouses, a map table and a weather station, flood lights and beacons, sails, water tanks and deployment pods.
At the helm
Park her, press E at the ladder and walk her decks as she moves. Take the helm with E: W and S for the throttle, A and D to turn, Space to park, Q for the road autopilot, or click the ground to send her there. The Rover stands up on her legs where her wheels refuse.
Migration
The Citadel Pilgrim can board a whole settlement, residents and goods, walk it to a new place, and found it anew where she stops.
